On the 30th of June, 1961, Dino Carletti acquired a plot of 22 hectares of land in the nearby location of Montepulciano.
Dino and his son Federico, began to write a story of Passion, of Growth, and now, today, the 30th of June 2021, Francesco and Maria Stella, Federico’s son start to plan the future of Poliziano.

A PRESTIGIOUS PAST LEADS TO AN AMBITIOUS FUTURE

THE WINERY

The first stone was laid in 1965, and ever since investments have never stopped.
The cellar has always been cured both architectonically and technologically, with the introduction and use of different of the most advanced machines and the use of various barrels always more sophisticated both in dimensions and in quality.
Everything began with cement vats and a very simple organization, majorly addressed to carboy wine production.
Year after year the cellar continued to expand and to evolve, following the vineyards’ growth; in 1998 we have constructed a new fermentation cellar, much more technological and in 1999, 2015 and 2019 respectively, we have constructed and introduced a new center for the reception of the grapes, with two lines of crushing and destemming machines, an optical sorter and a line of manual selection of great efficiency.

In 2003 it was the time of the new aging cellar, with a centralized humidity and temperature control, for the refinement of the wines. The barrels introduced, have been closely selected based on their dimensions and roasting, so to increase the typicity and the quality of the wines.

Since 1990 we have created, and constantly renovated over the years, a bottling facility with very high technological machineries.
During the expansion of the winery, the section which was previously dedicated for aging, eventually got transformed into the stocking area for the bottles not yet ready to enter the market, with a capacity of around 300\350 thousands bottles. This is where it is located our “Old Vintages Library”, where a very limited amount of great old vintages of our top quality wines are stored.

Right now, it is in phase of planning the enlargement of the new logistic facility, where the bottling and stocking will be completely automated.
The spirit to preserve the tradition of the places and of the local variety of the products does not contrast with the continuous search of an Avant-guard enology.
