\u00a0On the 30th of June, 1961, Dino Carletti acquired a plot of 22 hectares of land in the nearby location of Montepulciano. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1619598415239{margin-top: 80px !important;}”]<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0Poliziano\u2019s primary goal has always been to acquire plots of land in the Montepulciano area, or otherwise in other wine regions that have to be qualitatively suitable for the production of excellent wines: Maremma in 1997, Cortona in early 2000s and the I Pozzi estate in 1993, but re-planted completely in 2017.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4729″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4657″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4732″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0The motto is Quality. Our Philosophy is to be producers of our own grapes and to transform them into high quality wine. From these two wills, it arose the need to invest in the soils and the territories different from each other but equally dedicated to quality. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1619598471128{margin-top: 80px !important;}”]<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0Our wine growing approach has always been carried out with the goal to obtain the maximum quality possible. [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4624″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0Everything started with a very simple organization addressed to the production of Carboy wine with very wide planting density and without a specific clonal selection. Within the first plots of land acquired in 1961 there were also vines planted following the vite maritate system, linked to the \u201cMezzadria\u201d historical tradition. [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”2375″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0The management of the canopy has evolved too. Now we prefer to use it in order to shade the grapes in the hottest moments, and to aerate them during the ending phase of the maturation. [\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”4630″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”4627″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0Lastly we have fully eliminated fungicides, systemic and cytotropic, and after witnessing and gaining consciousness that the organic cultivation is compatible with the qualitative standard of the grape we normally expect, we are now starting the full conversion to the organic certification. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1619598743733{margin-top: 80px !important;}”]<\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0Great cure of the quality, and of the typicity in both the old and the new labels. [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4633″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0The research of quality has always been and still is our compass over these 60 years of history. [\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4636″ img_size=”600×400″ alignment=”center”][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0The fermentation process and the skins extraction are always much more delicate, the yeasts used come from our own selection, the aging is followed through various typologies of woods and barrels being very careful to never have a strong predominance of one type over another. [\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n \u00a0In the past years we have also undertaken a geologic and pedological study of all of our territories, and this has allowed us to understand with greater depth the originality of our CRUs, Asinone and Le Caggiole. Both of the two wines are produced from marine Pliocene (Zanclean-Piacenzian) origin soils with different percentages of clays and sand, perfectly reflecting the high quality and typicity of these products.<\/span><\/p>\n [\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4645″ img_size=”400×600″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4651″ img_size=”400×600″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/3″][vc_single_image image=”4648″ img_size=”400×600″ alignment=”center”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n
\nDino and his son Federico, began to write a story of Passion, of Growth, and this year, the 30th of June, Francesco and Maria Stella, Federico\u2019s sons are starting to plan the future of Poliziano.<\/span><\/p>\nTHE TERROIRS
\n<\/span><\/h2>\n
\nWe have indeed always respected the expressions of the territories and therefore all of our wines are strictly produced only with our own grapes and from the denominations they are from.<\/span><\/p>\nTHE VINEYARDS
\n<\/span><\/h2>\n
\nOver the course of the years we have changed the planting density, by incrementing it at first but more recently by rebalancing it because of the global warming.
\nWe have selected the most suitable clones and rootstocks, we have started implementing the organic cultivation, although not yet certified, and we have increased our focus more and more towards higher elevated vineyards in order to limit the impact of the raising temperatures nowadays quite common.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nAfter various studies and experiences gathered from the vineyards\u2019 management of other famous areas of wine production worldwide, we have started to increase the planting density, to make our own clonal selection of \u201cPrugnolo Gentile\u201d and to test new clones of Sangiovese.
\nIn the past 20 years, considering the \u201cproblematic\u201d raise of the temperatures, we again intervened on the planting density, rebalancing it to around 4000\/5000 plants per hectare, and also by raising the vines height from the ground.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nFor the future we are now evaluating newer clones, more performing and suitable to this new climate and historical moment.
\nIn the past 15 years we have developed a passion and a dedication to organic cultivation. We started by stopping the use of chemical fertilizers, weeding and of insecticides. Everything has been progressively substituted respectively by organic fertilizers, mechanical weeding and by using pheromones and antagonists insects.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nWe are absolutely certain that our products from a live, prolific, sustainable, non-polluted vineyards and soils are and will continue to increment their quality and tipicity.<\/span><\/p>\nTHE WINES
\n<\/span><\/h2>\n
\nThe first vintage of production of our Vino Nobile di Montepulciano dates back to 1968, of our Asinone to 1983 and the \u201cnew\u201d Le Caggiole to 2015.<\/span><\/p>\n
\nWith time we have learnt, developed and refined all of the techniques to increase the quality and safeguarding the typicity of our products.
\n<\/span><\/p>\n
\nNo biotechnologies are used in our wines, which do only undergo a light filtration process just before the bottling.<\/span><\/p>\n
